Members of Amnesty International in Scotland will be walking the Great Scottish Walk in Edinburgh on World Refugee Day to celebrate the enormous economic and cultural contribution that refugees and asylum seekers make to the UK.
Amnesty is on the official Great Scottish Walk registered charity list which means that if you want to sponsor and walk for life with Amnesty International, then 100% of the money you raise will go towards the protection of human rights worldwide.
The walk starts at 11am on Sunday the 20th of June, and follows either a 6 or 12 mile scenic route through Edinburgh (depending on your preference). All participants who complete the walk will receive a medal and certificate.
You can enter as an individual or as a team (there are loads of different categories with different prizes) with trophies and medals for those who raise the most money - all teams/individuals raising £750 or more will be presented with a commemorative plaque at a Presentation evening in October.
Entry only costs £7.50 for each individual (£6 Under 18/ Unemployed/ OAP’s/ Students). To participate in this family-friendly event and join the Amnesty Team you can register online at www.greatscottishwalk.com . To receive an entry form or for further information please phone 0131 466 6200 or email elizabeth.walsh@amnesty.org.uk .
