Opening the Shadow is based on the Vyayamas of Hatha Yoga and is a starting point for beginners.A simple but dynamic sequence is learned which will reduce the excess of fat and heaviness in exchange for lightness, stamina, endurance and flexibility as well as physical and mental stability.Moving the Shadow consists of a flowing sequence of stances and seats which activate the body's 108 marma points or vital junctions. It continues the work on flexibility and firmness and on the free motion of prana or life force.
This style of yoga focuses on alignment of posture with detailed analysis. In this class you will be introduced to standings, forward bends, twists, inversions, backbends and pranayama. As this is a general class, Frances will encourage you to work your own level according to your experience.
Iyengar yoga developes a fit and supple body, toning all the bodily systems. It promotes physical and mental well-being, strength, flexibility and stamina. Although demanding, it's also enjoyable! This level 1 is suitable for beginners and those who wish to deepen their practice at this foundation level.
Linda's class is a general class for both beginners and those with some experience.. It focuses on the Breath, Postures and Visualisation, and ends with relaxation. You will be encouraged to listen to your body and breath, and work accordingly. Please wear loose clothing and bring a mat and blanket.
Neil's class is for students who have practiced Iyengar yoga at level 2 for at least one year, and who now wish to make a deeper commitment to their practice.
Fiona's class is suitable for absolute beginners, or those with little practice. This class is focused on Yoga asanas (postures) and relaxation.

Men : Facing the Challenge
Saturday
14th February
2pm-4pm
It is exciting being a man in the 21st century. Our near monopoly of power and the way we are using it, is quite rightly being questioned and challenged. The resulting confusion and uncertainty provides us with a wonderful opportunity to reflect upon the meaning and purpose of our lives and so learn and grow.
By connecting with the inner man, we can re-define ourselves, restore our dignity and lead happier and more fulfilled lives.
Join us for a talk and workshop led by John McConnel, one of the founders of a personal development programme for men called Spirituality and Men (S.A.M.), which encourages men of all cultures, faiths and backgrounds to come together as brothers to explore, deepen, share and enjoy the inner spirit.
The Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University (BKWSU) is a worldwide
non-governmental organisation and a non-profit making registered charity.
Registered charity No. 269971.
The BKWSU is the recipient of seven UN Peace Messenger Awards.
