Time: 4-5pm Topic to be discussed: "You should have firm faith that whatever happens is good for you"
Quotes from Swami on this topic:
"You should have firm faith that whatever happens is good for you and face any eventuality with courage."
"No matter what others say or do, have unflinching faith in God. Only the good face obstacles in their path. Whatever happens is for your own good."
Question: Swami is often heard saying "Yes, yes, yes".
Answer: "Yes, yes, yes", refers to inner acceptance. Experiences and situations arise in the life of a person. His tendency is to say "yes" to that which is pleasing, and "no" if the prospect is otherwise... This is a great mistake. Swami says "Yes, yes, yes" to everything that comes to him. All is the gift of God. Every experience given by God is good. Through sincere and loving inquiry, that "good" will be found in every experience. "Yes, yes, yes" refers to inner acceptance. But there is bad work and good work. Whatever they are, they are real. "Yes, yes yes" does not change them.
"If one can adopt as an attitude the truth that good only is real, and that all one sees is essentially good, even though distorted, one acquires a great strength if he can see the world in this way. The learned might argue about the world and say that all is illusion and despair, but they can never hope to live without loving the world. Love is not to be disregarded. The world might seem to be untruth from the material viewpoint, but the world is truth if looked at from the transcendental view point."

>Sai Ram All, > >The next study circle will be held on Sunday 19th >September at Maryhill Community centre. > >The time will be: 4 - 5 PM >Topic: Faith > >This is a topic that is considered very important in >Spiritual life to quote Swami “In spiritual matters, >faith is the very essence”. Here are quite a few >quotes from Swami from interviews and discourses. Let >us pray that our faith grows stronger! > >Sanskrit for faith is Viswas: meaning given by Swami >is "Faith in your own atma, your own divinity which >manifests itself as love." > >Question: What is 100% faith in God? > >Sai: 100% faith arises from the Atma. Full faith is >even. Through pain and sorrow, faith in God remains >full..... When the butter is boiled, at a certain >stage there is a bad smell. This smell is the >impurities being boiled away. But have faith and keep >on during that period. Then the pure ghee is left. >That pure ghee is wisdom. The end of wisdom is >freedom. > >Student: There is some small experience of Swami. >Then there is faith. > >Sai: No. Faith comes first and then experience. >Students must not only know the answers to questions. >The answers must be the conduct of their lives, and on >this basis they must teach others. Faith is natural >to each person. Each person has some faith in >himself, some confidence in himself. And the core of >his being, of himself is Atma. From this is the >foundation of faith in himself......... >Some reflection will indicate that for the coming into >being of the universe there must also be a basis. >God is that basis. He knows. He need not ask anyone. > In that subtle area, beyond body and >intellect, only faith can exist. Faith is naturally >with each person, and so also is love. > >Sai: Faith is like a fire mountain. It is like an ice >mountain. There is nothing else. There is no >doubt. > >Question: What is doubt? > >Sai: Doubt is confusion. When reading books, one >writer says one thing and another says another >thing. Take one idea and follow it. Rama had one >will, one arrow, one mind. The arrow is intelligence. > >Sai: Faith in the Divine is single and cannot be >gained through reason. Either their is or there is >not >faith. It can arise through sadhana. > > >(From Conversations with Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba) > >In another Interview Swami said: > >"Have faith in yourself. Without faith in yourself, >faith in God is impossible." > >Other quotes: > >“I always advocate deep inquiry to strengthen the >foundations of faith. Inquiry will only reinforce >the springs of Love.” > >“Faith in what? Faith in God, in your own strength, in >your own victory.” > >“Faith can grow only if care is taken not to fall into >evil company.” > >“You should have strong faith. Only then can you lead >a peaceful life. Prahlada was subjected to >various kinds of punishments but his faith remained as >steady as a rock. His love for God never >diminished a bit.” > >“Where there is Faith, there is Love; >Where there is Love, there is Peace; >Where there is Peace, there is Truth; >Where there is Truth, there is God; >Where there is God, there is Bliss” > >
